Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 1, 1934]. [Class 38 (ii)] [See also Group V] Electric condensers are provided with insulating coverings of thermoplastic material by placing a tube or casing of the insulating material over the body so as to project at both ends, and then applying heat and pressure to soften and mould the casing on to the body and close the open ends therearound. Tubes or casings of cellulose derivatives, natural or artificial resins, together with fillers and softening substances such as cellulose acetate, shellac, and glycerine-phthalicacid-resins are mentioned as suitable materials for the casings. The Figure shows a tube a of artificial resin which has been compressed so as to enclose the condenser b and make an air-tight connection round the connecting wires c. |
