<p>The tool (1) is raised and lowered by a lifting arrangement and has an integral sensor chip (2) with a writeable data memory that can be interrogated and on which data are stored that are used to identify the tool and/or demand values for automatically setting machine parameters. The upper and preferably lower dead centers of the lifting device are stored as demand values.
