Disclosed are an electronic device and a control method thereof. The electronic device of the present invention includes: a memory; a display containing a plurality of areas; and a control unit for storing graphic user interface in which at least one of the properties related to execution of applications, arrangement of the execution screen of applications and kinds of applications in the memory based on predetermined input signals if applications are being executed in the areas, for producing graphic icons corresponding to the graphic user interface, and for activating the graphic user interface based on the input of graphic icons on the display. According to the present invention, when a plurality of applications are being executed, graphic user interface is stored and then it the stored graphic user interface can be activated.
