<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an angle sensor capable of detecting rotation angles of a steering shaft and a motor without requiring a long stand-by time or a complicated adjustment work, and provide an electric power steering device having the same. <P>SOLUTION: An angle sensor 10 comprises angle information acquisition means (a motor rotation angle sensor 11) for acquiring information regarding a rotation angle of a steering shaft 2, and acquires the information by the angle information acquisition means when an order is transmitted from the exterior. The angle information acquisition means includes a MR element or a Hall element, and is operated by a power intermittently supplied from the exterior.
