PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a processing time from when an ink suction processing is completed till when a wiping processing is completed. SOLUTION: A cap 211B is moved to a capping position by a driving unit 230 to cap recording heads 7A and 7B, a suction operation by a suction pump is carried out to carry out the ink suction processing in which an ink is sucked from the recording heads, and thereafter the cap is moved to a decap position by the driving unit. Moving relative to the motion operation, when the cap is placed in the decap position, a wiper member 240 is moved so that the wiper member is placed in a position where a wiping operation is initiated.
