PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device capable of discharging an inner foreign matter by pressured oil flowing when a relief valve is opened without needing an independent relief valve. SOLUTION: A vane rotor 9 is rotated by a hydraulic fluid supplied from an oil pump relatively to a shoe housing 3. A seal plate unit 500 is provided between the vane rotor 9 and a sprocket 1 and prevents inner leakage between an advanced angle oil pressure chamber 85 and a delay angle oil pressure chamber 81 during usual operation. For example, when oil pressure of the advanced angle oil pressure chamber 85 is made high to be a prescribed relief pressure or higher when the vane rotor 9 is operated in an advanced angle direction, a flexible part 51 is bent on the sprocket 1 side by oil pressure P to form a relief passage 54 between the vane rotor 9 and the sprocket 1. Thereby the seal plate unit 500 has a function of a relief valve. A foreign matter in the valve timing adjusting device can be also discharged by pressure oil. COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
