PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery in which gas generation while stored at high temperature is suppressed to restrain the battery from swelling out.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprises a nonaqueous electrolyte containing an electrolyte salt and a nonaqueous solvent, a cathode, and an anode including an anode active material to and from which lithium ions get in and out at a potential of 1.2 V or more relative to lithium potential. The nonaqueous solvent contains cyclic carbonate and chain carbonate, as well as vinylene carbonate, vinylene carbonate, 1,3-propane sultone, tris(trimethyl silyl) phosphate, or bis(trimethyl silyl) sulfate. Gases in the battery after an anode potential is lowered to 0.4 V or less relative to lithium potential at least once before use to keep coating present on the anode surface and the battery is left intact for two weeks at 60°C are such that the volume ratio of a sum total of methane, ethylene and ethane is less than 0.3%. The battery is used in the region of an anode potential nobler than 0.8 V relative to lithium potential. |
