PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin composition which inhibits deterioration of a resin by heating, and is excellent in balance of heat resistant and shock-proof, shock absorption or the like even if making a processing amount increase in a general-purpose large-sized extruder in which a ratio L/D of a screw length L and a screw diameter D is short. SOLUTION: When thermoplastic resin compositions of the following (I) or (II) are manufactured with an extruder, the method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin composition is executed by carrying out melting kneading by a notch type mixing screw after carrying out melting kneading while carrying out stretching flow. (I) A thermoplastic resin composition is formed by blending a thermoplastic resin (A) and a resin (B) having a reactive functional group. (II) A thermoplastic resin composition is formed by blending a thermoplastic resin (A), a thermoplastic resin (C) which is different from the thermoplastic resin (A), and a compound (D) having a reactive functional group.
