<p>A method of compression moulding an article from a thermoplastic material using a cold mould in which it is intended that the article have a through-hole comprises providing a mould that when closed defines a cavity. The mould comprises a first mould section 20a having a projection 21 that extends across the cavity, and a second mould section 20b being formed with a recess 24, the recess 24 having at least one channel (24a, figure 2c) that provides a flow path for thermoplastic material between the recess 24 and the cavity. The method further comprises inserting a thermoplastic material into one of other of the first and second mould sections, closing the first and second mould sections such that the thermoplastic material flows throughout the cavity, the recess and the at least one channel, and allowing the thermoplastic material to solidify within the mould. The material in the recess forms a plug over the through hole which is easily cut away after moulding.</p> |
