PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem associated when plural setting methods are available to set communication parameters.SOLUTION: A communication apparatus: transmits a response signal responsive to a probe request signal transmitted from another communication apparatus; determines communication parameter setting methods that can be carried out by the other communication apparatus; and selects a setting method that can be commonly carried out by the communication apparatus and the other communication apparatus on the basis of the determined communication parameter setting methods. If the selected setting method requires the communication apparatus to join a given network that is newly established by an apparatus providing communication parameters, the communication apparatus joins the network and performs a communication parameter setting process according to the selected setting method, or, if the setting method selected by the selecting means does not require the communication apparatus to join the given network, the communication apparatus performs a communication parameter setting process according to the selected setting method without joining the network. |
