摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc welding method in which a consumable electrode and a base material are hardly short-circuited during an arc continuation period, and to provide an arc welding system. SOLUTION: The arc welding method repeats a unit welding period including a droplet transfer period, an arc continuation preparation period T2 and an arc continuation period T3. The arc welding method includes steps of: transferring droplets from the consumable electrode 15 to the base material W during the droplet transfer period by making a welding current Iw to flow between the consumable electrode 15 and the base material W so that a time average value of an absolute value is a first value and a maximum value of the absolute value is a second value; making the welding current Iw flow so that the maximum value of the absolute value is a value ih2 that is higher than the second value during the period T2; and continuing a state in which an arc a1 is generated between the consumable electrode 15 and the base material W by making the welding current Iw flow so that the time average value of the absolute value is a value im2 that is lower than the first value during the period T3.
