PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ripple detecting device for DC motors that sharply improves the detection precision of a current ripple as compared with before, ensures the probability of ripple detection by using other detection devices and methods in combination, and further can be achieved with a fixed storage area and a light arithmetic load, and to provide a method of detecting a ripple and a ripple detection program. SOLUTION: The ripple detecting device for DC motors includes a detection means of detecting a feature amount (rising width) that the current ripple has (S1, S2), a storage means of storing the feature amount in time series (S3), and determination means of comparing a first data train including a plurality of feature amounts and a second data train including the same number of feature amounts as that before the first data column (S8), determining that sets match when a corresponding change pattern of each feature amount is similar (S11) and further determining that the ripple is detected appropriately (S13). Further, the determination means compares an original number of periods with a detected number of periods (S12), and determines a ripple omission (S14) and a ripple increase (S15).
