PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery system capable of suppressing an electrolyte membrane from being dried while avoiding expansion in apparatus scale, and a method of controlling a fuel battery.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell stack in which a plurality of fuel battery cells are stacked; a flow rate variation acquiring means for acquiring the flow rate variation of reaction gases between a plurality of fuel battery cells; and a circulation water quantity control means for controlling the quantity of circulation water which circulates from a fuel gas outlet to a fuel gas inlet in the fuel battery stack based on an acquisition result of the flow rate variation acquiring means. |
