PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device that prevents relative displacement of position sensors, and a verification device having the position detecting device. SOLUTION: The verification device 1 includes: a lower sensor 61 disposed on the lower side of a printing medium; an upper sensor 66 disposed on the upper side of the printing medium; an interlocking mechanism 100 interlocking the lower sensor 61 and the upper sensor 66 to move them in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the printing medium; and a movement preventing mechanism 110 preventing movement of the lower sensor 61 and upper sensor 66 in a non-interlocked state where the lower sensor 61 and upper sensor 66 are not interlocked with each other.
