PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting apparatus that ensures fail-safe and that has a reduced conveyance route length. SOLUTION: The sorting apparatus 1 has sorting conveyors 4, 4 that are lined in series in a rear stage of inspection equipment 2 inspecting articles W while conveying the articles W, and sorts the articles W in accordance with the inspection result by the inspection equipment 2. The sorting conveyor 4 is either a drop-out conveyor 4a that drops the articles W by downward inclination or an up-out conveyor 4b that drops the articles W by upward inclination. The drop-out conveyor 4a is arranged in the front row of the sorting conveyors 4, 4 while the up-out conveyor 4b is arranged in the last row of the sorting conveyors 4, 4.
