PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle that improves fuel consumption while ensuring drivability during slip control of a lock-up clutch upon starting a vehicle. SOLUTION: The control device for the vehicle is used in a vehicle mounted with a torque converter including a lock-up clutch. When executing slip start control for making the lock-up clutch into a slipping state upon starting a vehicle, an ECU sets an optimum target engine rotational speed Netgt<SB POS="POST">0</SB>calculated by considering fuel consumption on the basis of a vehicle state. In order to quickly bring an actual engine rotational speed Ner close to the target engine rotational speed Netgt<SB POS="POST">0</SB>, if the accelerator opening Acc is large, the ECU increases an amount S of sweep of a target engine rotational speed Netgt<SB POS="POST">1</SB>set at the start of the slip start control, when bringing the target engine rotational speed Netgt<SB POS="POST">1</SB>close to the target engine rotational speed Netgt<SB POS="POST">0</SB>.
