PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking device configured such that, when a user starts heating by mistake without mounting a heating plate, the heating is correctly determined and the heating output is decreased or stopped, thereby securing the safety. SOLUTION: The cooking device includes: a first infrared sensor 11 for detecting a temperature of a place where the temperature of the heating plate is not increased, when the heating plate 7 with a high-frequency heating element 18 is mounted on a heating chamber 2 and heated by genetating a high frequency using a high frequency generator 3; a second infrared sensor 12 for detecting a temperature of the place where the temperature of the heating plate is increased; and a heating controller 14, which determines whether the heating plate is mounted by a relative value of the temperature detected by the first and second infrared sensors, and which decreases or stops the output of the high frequency generator, when determined that the heating plate is not mounted, to thereby secure the safety.
