A method (100) of diagnosing a speed brake fault, where the method includes receiving a position signal from the at least one position sensor (102), determining a variation in the position signal relative to a reference position (104) and diagnosing a fault in the speed brake system based on the variation (106). Historical data, possibly over a predetermined number of flights may be used as a reference value. Multiple position sensors and reference values relating to multiple control surfaces may be used. Values relating to maintenance data from previous faults may also be considered. |
