The joist hanger has a stirrup 4 with first flanges 6 extending from it to form a support 7 for a joist 3; second flanges 8 extend at an angle from the first to lie flat against a beam 10 from which the joist is to be hung, the second flanges have a pair of tabs 15,16 extending in an opposite direction to the first flanges for fitting between flanges 19,20 on the beam, to assist with location of the hanger. The hanger may be pushed into place on the beam, held in place by friction. The tabs and flanges may have ribs 22 to assist with grip. The tabs may be stamped out at the edge or in the middle of the second flanges. The second flanges may extend over the top of the beam, both flanges may have apertures 14 for nails to pass through to assist with fixing in place. |
