A method for monitoring a scene through a camera (7) comprises a step of marking a portion (14) of the scene by light having a pre-restricted spectrum component and a space identifying pattern. An analysis image is captured as a scene by a sensor which is sensitive to the pre-restricted spectrum component. The analysis image is segmented based on the pre-restricted spectrum component in order to find a candidate image area. A space pattern is detected in the candidate image area and the characteristic of the detected space pattern is compared with a characteristic corresponding to a space identifying pattern. When characteristics are matched, the candidate image area is identified as a verified image area corresponding to the marked portion (14) of the scene, and image data displaying the scene is obtained. The image data corresponding to the verified image area is processed in a first type and the remaining image data is processed in a second type. |
