PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for impregnation capable of obtaining a cured product which can be uniformly impregnated (prevent migration) in a thickness direction of a fiber substrate, and has excellent durability, and to provide a friction material using the composition.SOLUTION: A resin composition for impregnation contains a resol type phenol resin (A), an organic solvent (B-1) having a boiling point of 150-350°C, and an organic solvent (B-2) having a boiling point of 50-130°C. The organic solvent (B-1) is butyl cellosolve. A friction material is formed by impregnating the resin composition for impregnation in a fibrous substrate, and curing the impregnated substrate. |
