PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently exhibit base isolation performance in a case where a load due to an accommodated object largely fluctuates.SOLUTION: A base isolator includes: a base isolator body 45 that is arranged in a detachable manner between a substructure 20 and a superstructure 30 constituting a structure, and attenuates relative displacement in the horizontal surfaces of the substructure 20 and superstructure 30; and an axial force introduction member 50 that is provided between the base isolator body 45 and the substructure 20 or superstructure 30, and whose height can be adjusted.
