PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter on which a small and light electromagnetic solenoid device 8 incorporating a rush current suppressing function is mounted.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic solenoid device 8 incorporates a main solenoid 26 for pushing a pinion to the side of a ring gear and driving a first movable contact 54 and a second movable contact 59, a small solenoid 51 for driving a restricting member 50 to restrict the movement of the second movable contact, and an IC 64 for controlling an operating time for the small solenoid 51. The small solenoid 51 drives the restricting member 50 to a restriction position to restrict the movement of the second movable contact 59 before the main solenoid 26 operates to close a second switch, and the IC 64 controls on/off operation of a sub electromagnet so that the restriction of the movement of the second movable contact 59 is cancelled a predetermined time after a plunger 33 of the main solenoid 26 is attracted to a fixed iron core 31. |
