PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment film having excellent photosensitivity as well as excellent characteristics such as electrical characteristics and afterimage characteristics.SOLUTION: A formation method for a liquid crystal alignment film is carried out a process of: depositing, on a base plate, a coating film of liquid crystal alignment agent including a polymer having at least one repeating unit selected from repeating units expressed by formulae (A) and (A') below; and irradiating the coating film with light. (In the formulae (A) and (A'), Rrepresents a tetravalent organic group, and Rrepresents a divalent organic group. However, at least one of Rand Ris a group having a structure that forms cleavage or Fries rearrangement by light irradiation, and the structure exists in a principal chain of the polymer.) |
