摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pumping magnetometer capable of improving a response of a magnetometer to a magnetic field which fluctuates in a shorter period than traverse relaxation time of electron spin of alkali metal atoms.SOLUTION: An optical pumping magnetometer is constituted by comprising: a cell 22 having an alkali metal atom aggregate; irradiation means of circular polarization pumping light for generating spin polarization of the alkali metal atom aggregate in the cell; emission means for linear polarization probe light for reading spin of the alkali metal atom aggregate; a probe light detection system for detecting rotational displacement of a polarization plane of the linear polarization probe light; a coil 17 for applying a magnetostatic field to the alkali metal atom aggregate; a vibration magnetic field application coil 19 for applying a vibration magnetic field for performing rotary motion by using the spin of the alkali metal atom aggregate as an axis; and detection means of information including phase difference between an output signal and drive current, and so that detune which is difference between the Larmor frequency to be determined from the magnetostatic field and a frequency of the drive current to be input to the vibration magnetic field application coil can be set within a predetermined range to a magnetic field to be measured.
