PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a latch control device for a vehicle door to detect an abnormality of an insufficient engagement of a latch and a ratchet when a door is closed in which: a transmission means transmits power from an electrically-driven actuator controlled by a control unit to a ratchet that can be engaged with a latch being engaged with a striker on the vehicle body side and rotating.SOLUTION: Whether a ratchet is in a ratchet engaging position or not is detected by a first switch. The actuation of transmission means 53 until the ratchet has reached the ratchet engaging position is detected by a second switch 120 by detecting an actuating position of an actuating member 71 constituting a part of the transmission means 53. A control unit that controls the actuation of an electrically-driven actuator 24 determines an abnormality when the switching mode of the first switch is not changed when the switching mode of the second switch 120 is changed.
