PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the influence caused by the deterioration in the spatial resolution, depending on the position, upon performing the adaptive signal processing to which the FDI method is applied.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus comprises: a probe including plural conversion elements that transmit acoustic waves to a subject, and convert the reflected waves into time-series received signals; and processing means which performs frequency domain interferometry, through application of adaptive signal processing, by using the plural received signals output from the plural conversion elements and a reference signal, and determines acoustic properties of plural positions in the subject. The probe is configured such that, when a direction in which the plural conversion elements are arranged is a first direction and a direction which intersects with the first direction is a second direction, end portions in the second direction have a lower transmission sound pressure of the acoustic waves than a midportion in the second direction. |
