A memory system, a semiconductor memory device, and an operating method thereof separate a page address from a word line address, specify each page data from input data by the page address, and program each page data in a memory cell of the word line specified by the word line address, thereby efficiently programming data in the memory cell even if the number of word lines and data bits stored in the memory cell increases.
