PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet excellent in adhesion strength with plating without remarkably deteriorating magnetic characteristics, as compared with conventional R-T-B magnets.SOLUTION: In an R-T-B magnet essentially including R1 and Ce, as R, the R-T-B magnet as a raw material is subjected to long-term heat treatment to form main phase particles into core-shell particles. When mass concentrations of R1 and Ce in a core part are represented as αNd and αCe, respectively, and mass concentrations of R1 and Ce in a shell part are represented as &bgr;R1 and &bgr;Ce, respectively, the ratio (B/A) of the mass concentration ratio (&bgr;R1/&bgr;Ce=B)) of R1 and Ce in the shell part and the mass concentration ratio (αR1/αCe=A) of R1 and Ce in the core part is 1.1 or more, so that lowering of coercive force is suppressed while adhesion strength with plating is improved by adding of Ce. |
