摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina-based sintered compact which resists creeping dielectric breakdown caused by application of a voltage, and a voltage endurance member using the same.SOLUTION: In the alumina-based sintered compact, alumina manifests itself as a highest peak and peaks of an oxide composed of a transition metal and aluminum manifest, when measured with an X-ray diffraction apparatus, and an alkaline earth metal is dissolved in each of an alumina crystal and a crystal of the oxide composed of the transition metal and aluminum as a solid solution. When the molar ratios (%) of alumina, the oxide of the alkaline earth metal, and the oxide of the transition metal are defined as, α, &bgr; and γ, respectively, α, &bgr; and γ satisfy following formulas; 80≤α≤99.8, 0.1≤&bgr;≤10, 0.1≤γ≤10, and α+&bgr;+γ=100. The transition metal is titanium and the alkaline earth metal is magnesium.
