The present invention relates to a medical imaging apparatus and a medical image providing method, capable of accurately quantifying the elastography of a tissue. The medical imaging apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: a display unit which displays an elastography mapped with a different color according to the strain value of the tissue of a subject; and a control unit which calculates the representative value of the target region to represent the strain value of the target region and the representative value of the reference region to represent the strain value of the reference region, if a target region that is a lesion tissue and a reference region that is a normal tissue are set on the elastography region, and displays a color reference region to show the distribution of the representative value of the reference region in the reference region with colors through the display unit.
