The present invention relates to a device and a method for vehicle information-based drowsy driving detection. According to the present invention, vehicle information is used to detect drowsy driving of a driver. An embodiment of the present invention may include a measuring element that measures one or more parameter values which define a driving pattern of a vehicle, a control unit that analyzes the driving pattern by using a result of a time-based comparison between the parameter value measured by the measuring element and a pre-set reference value, analyzes a steering pattern of the vehicle from a result of the driving pattern analysis, and detects a drowsy state of the driver based on whether or not a result of the steering pattern analysis corresponds to a reference pattern which defines a state of sudden steering during driving, and a warning unit that outputs a predetermined warning signal when the drowsy state is detected by the control unit. Another embodiment of the present invention may include obtaining a parameter value which defines a driving pattern of a vehicle by using a measuring element mounted on the vehicle, analyzing the driving pattern by using a result of a time-based comparison between the obtained parameter value and a pre-set reference value, analyzing a steering pattern of the vehicle from the analyzed driving pattern, and detecting a drowsy state of a driver based on whether or not the analyzed steering pattern corresponds to a reference pattern which defines a state of sudden steering during driving.
