The device (100) has an ophthalmic lens lighting unit (10) and an acquisition and analyzing unit (70) located on both sides of a support (20) of an ophthalmic lens (50). The lighting unit has point light sources (11, 12) i.e. LEDS, and illuminates the lens along different lighting directions, acquires and analyzes the light transmitted by the lens, and identifies shadows of position-identifying marks (51-53) when being lighted in the directions, where the analyzing unit deduces a measured value for camber geometrical characteristics of the lens. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring camber geometrical characteristic of an ophthalmic lens.
