<p>The present invention relates to a composition comprising an extract of Acorus gramineus root and alpha-asarone for preventing and treating a cognitive impairment and more specifically, to a composition comprising an extract of Acorus gramineus root and alpha-asarone for preventing and treating a cognitive impairment wherein the Acorus gramineus root extract and alpha-asarone which is a fraction of the same suppress accumulation of lipid peroxide in the brain, and neurodegenerative diseases such as the cognitive impairment and dementia can be prevented or treated by reducing activation of achetylcholinesterase which plays an important role in a neurotransmission system.</p> |
