PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for producing an alcohol by a carbon dioxide reduction reaction using light energy.SOLUTION: In the method according to the present invention, a cathode electrode 301 contains copper or a copper compound, and an anode electrode 304 is provided with a region formed of a nitride semiconductor layer in which an AlGaN (0<x≤1) layer and a GaN layer are laminated. A first electrolytic solution comprising an aqueous potassium chloride solution (aqueous KCl solution) or an aqueous sodium chloride solution (aqueous NaCl solution) is held inside a cathode chamber in which the cathode electrode is disposed. A second electrolytic solution comprising an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (aqueous NaOH solution) is disposed inside an anode chamber in which the anode electrode is disposed. |
