PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which accurately detects a temperature of an optical element such as an objective lens and thereby can properly correct deterioration of optical characteristics, and a temperature detector for accurately detecting a temperature of an optical element formed from a resin material.SOLUTION: An optical pickup device includes: a semiconductor laser; a BD objective lens 107 for converging a laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser on a disk; a temperature sensor 411 for detecting a temperature of the BD objective lens 107; a collimator lens for correcting deterioration of optical characteristics of the laser beam through the BD objective lens 107; and a photodetector receiving the laser beam reflected by the disk. The BD objective lens 107 is formed from a resin material. The temperature sensor 411 is covered with a resin 412 formed from a material having the same temperature characteristics as that of the resin material.
