The present invention aims to minimize changes of sintering work processes, which is continuously performed, by providing an operator with the size of the gap between grate bars of the sintering cart. An apparatus for measuring the gap between the grate bars includes: a dark chamber formation part which is installed on a cart returning part and prevents external light from entering into the cart passing therethough; a light source which is installed on an upper side or a lower side of the grate bar in the dark chamber formation part; a brightness sensor which is installed on a side opposite to the light source with respect to the grate bar in the dark chamber formation part; and a controlling part which receives a measured value from the brightness sensor and identifies a state of the grate bar.
