A collapsible reel or spool including an inner flange (1), an outer flange (2) and a hub (3) positioned therein 5 between wherein said hub comprises a plurality of hub members (4) pivotally fitted at a first end to said inner and outer flanges , each hub member comprising an inner member (5) pivotally hinged at a second end (29) to an outer member (6) so as to allow said hub member to fold 10 centrally about said pivot hinge (26) thereby allowing said inner and said outer flanges to move between a collapsed position with said hub members folded up to draw said inner and outer flanges together and an open position holding said inner and outer flanges apart.
