发明名称 Ground Mounted Bike Storage Sliding Rack
摘要 Abstract More people are using bicycles for transportation and recreation and with increasing demands on parking space, especially in areas of high density populations, the ability to park more bicycles in less space without compromising functionality for cyclists is 5 becoming critical. In many offices, residential apartments and buildings bike clutter is becoming a problem. Not enough space is dedicated to cycle parking due to the space it requires so cyclists park in stairwells, in building foyers, offices and at entrances with ramifications for other building users. Regular bicycle stands and racks store bicycles in a static fashion and do not allow for .0 movement of the rack itself. Each bike rack in order to be functional requires a bicycle envelope of space to allow a cyclist room to park their bike and lock it and remove accessories like lights and panniers. A problem is that many bike racks on the market do not allow multiple secure locking points to provide cyclists with the option of securely locking their front and back wheels and frame. .5 Another issue for cyclists is that many existing bike racks are not easily identified as bicycle parking devices so that cyclists use non cyclist dedicated devices like street poles, barriers or fences instead. Additional problems for cyclists is that many bike racks do not accept the user's individual racking device and cyclists are not able to lock their bicycles in the place they wish to but 0 only in the place the rack allows. This invention allows cyclists to park their bicycles in a safe, secure and orderly fashion and maximises the effective use of space. This invention currently known as "Ground Mounted Bike Storage Sliding Rack" consists of individual cyclist parking cradles attached to a linear motion system which allows each 5 cyclist storage rack to be slid either right or left for the user to gain access to an individual bay. This invention stores bicycles securely by utilising a sliding mechanism in order to maximise bicycle parking without compromising usability for cyclists. The linear motion system is attached securely to the ground and consists of two tracks placed parallel. Each bike storage bay is attached to two sliding blocks engineered to fit 30 the track. Rubber tipped spacers are integrated into the body of each storage cradle in order to cushion each cradle from its neighbour and absorb shock and to ensure that racks do not clash with adjacent rack bays. Cyclists wheel their bicycles into individual channels which guide the bicycle into position. The cyclist then places the front or rear wheel of their bicycle into the vertical upright cut 35 out and adjoining cut out parallel to the ground. These cut outs hold the bicycle steady. A built in high quality cable lock is integrated into the lock at the vertical upright allowing the user to use their own lock to secure the wheel and frame. Another locking option is integrated into the rear of the individual bay allowing users the option to lock their front or rear wheel as well. [0 Each bike storage bay identifies the parking direction with an image illustrating the head to toe (handlebar to seat) or toe to head (seat to handlebar) option for each individual bay to maximise the multi bike rack's capacity.
