<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for testing an optical pulse and an optical pulse testing device capable of measuring the characteristics of the entire optical fiber without setting a position to be measured by using a marker, etc., even when a real-time measurement function is used.SOLUTION: The present optical pulse testing device comprises: a light source for radiating pulsed light into an optical fiber which is an object to be measured; an APD for detecting return light generated inside the optical fiber and converting it into an electric signal; a linear amplification unit for linearly amplifying the electric signal; a logarithmic amplification unit for logarithmically amplifying the electric signal; a switching unit for receiving the electric signal and switching whether to transmit the received electric signal between the linear amplification unit and the logarithmic amplification unit; an A/D conversion unit for sampling the amplified electric signal and A/D-converting the sampled electric signal; and a waveform recording unit for recording, upon receiving the A/D-converted electric signal, a temporal waveform of the entire section of the return light.</p> |
