PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a preform used for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite material, capable of decreasing the unevenness of a molded surface of the metal-ceramic composite material.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a preform used for manufacturing a metal-ceramic composite material by penetrating a preform composed of a ceramic with a metal base material, includes steps of: filling a molding die with ceramic particles while covering at least a part with a water-transmitting body composed of a material hard to wet with a liquid; penetrating the ceramic particles with the liquid through the water-transmitting body to make a wet formed body; and sintering the wet formed body.
