The invention relates to a document of value and security that consists of a paper substrate and has at least one watermark. The watermark here is formed by a modulation of the thickness of the substrate. Applied additionally to the surface of the document of value and security is at least one security element configured in the form of an individual element, such as a patch, and/or in the form of a continuous element, such as a strip. In accordance with the invention the at least one watermark and the at least one security element are arranged with at least partial overlap and at least in the region of the overlap the substrate has no or virtually no modulation of the thickness. This means that in the region of the overlap there is so minor a change in substrate thickness, or none at all, that the adhesion of the security element to the substrate surface is affected insubstantially or not at all. |
