[Class 108 (ii)] In road vehicles in which swinging levers or half axles under the control of torsion springs are employed and the chassis comprises hollow longitudinal and transverse supporting members with projecting ends the bearings for the levers are disposed at the ends of the freely projecting ends of the chassis members. As shown in Fig. 1, in the front cross member 2 bearings 5, 5<1> are housed each bearing having pairs of swing- ing levers 6 or 6<1> supporting the wheels, the lower lever of each pair being connected to a torsion bar 8 or 8<1> while the upper lever is connected to a shock absorber 9 or 9<1>. At the rear the bearings 10, 10<1> and torsion bars 11, 11<1> are housed in the transverse member 4 and pairs of levers 12, 12<1> are connected to the swinging half axles 13, 13<1>. In another form, Fig. 2, the bearings 5, 5<1> for the pairs of levers 6, 6<1> are housed at the ends of the longitudinal members 1, 1<1> while the shock absorbers 9, 9<1> are mounted on the ends of the transverse member 2. At the rear the swinging half axles 13, 13<1> are acted on by levers 12, 12<1> connected to torsion bars 20, 20<1> and by levers 21, 21<1> connected to shock absorbers 20, 20<1> and mounted as shown. The frame 1 shown in Fig. 3 is formed of upper and lower channelled parts connected together by flanges and housing between them the bearings for the swinging and shock absorber levers and also for the engine block. The floor 28, 29 is mounted on or forms part of the flanges of the channelled parts. The body is connected to the chassis through rubber rings 18, 18<1> and shackles.
