PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for conversion of plant material, including material containing cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignocellulose, to usable energy sources, such as carbohydrates, ethanol, and hydrogen.SOLUTION: A system for fractionating lignocellulosic biomass comprises: a digester 3 for digestion of raw materials comprising lignocellulose; a precipitation tank 5 for precipitation of cellulose and hemicellulose, and for solubilization of lignin; a washer 8 for washing the precipitated cellulose and hemicellulose; and a stripper 11 for stripping solvent from the precipitated cellulose and hemicellulose. The system does not comprise a separator for separating cellulose from hemicellulose. |
