The Elite diesel fuel filter unit filters particles down to the 2-micron diameter of the actual injectors. There is an increased resistance to fuel flow created by the utilization of such a fine element, but this is addressed by incorporating an electric pump into the unit to overcome the fuel starvation experienced by alternative systems. Water will pass through filter elements under load. The Elite filter housing is designed such that filter integrity is always maintained and will not allow water to pass. a. The filter unit is fed from the bottom through four entry slots which maximizes water separation beneath the filter element before fuel actually reaches the element. b. A large reservoir is incorporated below the element to 'store' separated water. c. A pressure-sensing switch is inbuilt which signals to the driver imminent fuel starvation due to filter saturation. A separate sensor detects water build-up in the reservoir. |
