The present invention describes a filtration vessel for at least partially removing a contaminant from a fluid. The vessel comprises an inlet pipe (108) which is mounted to a first end cab and to a supporting plate (106) of the vessel. The inlet pipe (108) comprises at least one slot through which the fluid is injectable into an inner volume (Vi) of a vessel body (101). At least one membrane rod (110) comprising a plurality of membrane straws is mounted to the first through hole of the supporting plate (106) such that the membrane rod (110) extends from the supporting plate (106) into the inner volume (Vi). A method for backwashing the device by injecting gas in the storage volume (Vs) and a method of detection of leaks using gas bubbles is further disclosed.
