PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently purifying tetrahydrofuran from a tetrahydrofuran-containing material containing water and dihydrofuran by reducing wastewater load without requiring complicated processes.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for purifying a tetrahydrofuran-containing material containing tetrahydrofuran, water and 0.01 to 0.5 wt.% of dihydrofuran in which the dihydrofuran content in the purified tetrahydrofuran is set to 0.005 wt.% or less by performing the following step (a) and subsequently performing the following step (b): (a) a step of bringing dihydrofuran in the tetrahydrofuran-containing material into contact with 0.03 to 3 wt.% of acetic acid based on the total 100 wt.% of the tetrahydrofuran-containing material and acetic acid; and (b) a step of distilling the tetrahydrofuran-containing material containing acetic acid to distill off a tetrahydrofuran-water mixture. |
