PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autoflight system comprising flight guidance functionality and autoland functionality providing input to a flight control system, which can operate both autoflight and autoland functionality and their corresponding systems at a Design Assurance Level A.SOLUTION: An autoflight system includes: a primary flight display (PFD) 12 having a flight mode annunciation system 14; a flight guidance system (FGS) 16; and a flight management system (FMS) 18. The flight mode annunciation system 14 is used for indication or annunciation of particular operations to a pilot. The autoflight system further includes an autoland system 20 having: autoland controller 22; sensing components such as monitors 24; and a switch 26. The autoland controller 22 further includes necessary components and programs to operate autoland guidance of an aircraft landing. The monitors 24 are configured to poll aircraft sensors or systems in order to sense a predefined trigger event. |
