PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress noise of a direction-injection fuel injection pump.SOLUTION: While a plunger 74 moves toward a top dead center, an intake valve (second valve member) 64 is seated in a valve seat 66. A solenoid coil 56 is kept in an excited state since a pressure process, and a needle (first valve member) 58 is attracted. When the plunger 74 starts moving from the top dead center in a downward direction, a third volume chamber 72 is decompressed. By decompression, the intake valve 64 moves toward a stopper protrusion 104 and turns into a floating state. While the intake valve 64 moves toward the stopper protrusion 104, application of a current to the solenoid coil 56 is shut off to turn the solenoid coil 56 into an unexcited state. As a result, when the needle 58 moves and the intake valve 64 moves at a highest speed, the needle 58 collides against the intake valve 64. Thereafter, the needle 58 and the intake valve 64 collide against the stopper protrusion 104. Such two collisions can suppress noise. |
