PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the energy density of a battery, while enhancing the rigidity of a lid, by increasing the ratio of a volume occupied by a power generation element to the volume in a battery container.SOLUTION: A battery 1 includes collectors 12, 13 for electrically connecting a power generation element 3 housed in a battery container 2, and external terminals 14, 15. A caulking head 22c of a rivet 22 for fixing the negative electrode collector 12 to the lid 4 is housed in an engaging recess 11a, i.e., a space in an engagement receiving part 11 of the lid 4. A positive electrode collector 13 is caulked to the lid 4 by the shaft 15b of a positive electrode external terminal 15, and a caulking head 15c at the tip of a shaft 15b is housed in the engaging recess 11a, i.e., a space in the engagement receiving part 11. The caulking heads 22c, 15c does not project from the lower surface 4a of the lid 4, and the gap space S of the power generation element 3 and the lid 4 is set to the minimum. |
